Interested in painting or drawing the figure? This class is designed for all levels of artists. We will be painting the human figure from a model. In this class you will gain the knowledge of basic painting concepts and techniques such as value, color, temperature, composition, and transition, through one-on-one instruction and demonstration. The advanced artist hone existing skills and explore new challenges. Short demos in oil will be provided through the entire process. The first few classes will focus on drawing and composition. With paint, or, pencil and charcoal, students learn to use, value, gesture, and perspective, developing the ability to “see” as artists. Students with a solid grasp of oil painting fundamentals will advance their understanding of color, composition, form, and materials. Intermediate students hone their skills and explore new challenges. Advanced students work with painting theory and focus on completing professional-quality work.
About the artist: After enjoying a long career, which spanned over 35 years and included working as a caricaturist, editorial illustrator, and medical illustrator, I am now immersed in traditional oil painting. I work with the figure; people fascinate me, which contributes to my ability to capture a likeness. I’m a portrait artist, but I like to think that my paintings are more than just mirroring a person’s features, that I capture a moment, or their essence that depicts who we are. People are all about their relationships with each other, their pets, and the surroundings that we all live. Incorporating the landscape, still life, our loves and sorrows fascinate me. I look to translate the extraordinary ordinary, in my paintings, which I find so intriguing, and, so beautiful! Marcia Klioze website
