This class is for the young artist who has successfully completed Beginner Drawing and/or demonstrates a thorough understanding of perspective and proportions.
Students will practice painting exercises in the study of light key to strengthen their ability to recognize and mix color with accuracy. This unique opportunity will have students painting in a full 23-color oil palette, and learning to mix the colors that they see in brightly colored still life set ups under a variety of colored lights. The practice of color study ties in with traditional skill-based learning by enabling the student to paint in light key, the quality of all the colors in a painting relating to each other under the same light source, a technique employed by Monet. We use the Henry Hensche exercises practiced by Studio Incamminati. These exercises strengthen the student’s ability to recognize and mix color in the light and shadow with accuracy.
SUPPLY FEE & OIL PAINTS NEEDED — Students will have the option to pay a fee for the 23-color palette of oil paints or purchase the 23-color palette (listed below). To purchase the needed palette, it will cost about $120 OR you can pay $50 supply fee to get the paints on your students palette for the 5 sessions. For all other materials, the supply fee for the entire session is $65 for all 5 sessions [includes #6 filbert paint brush, toned canvas, canvas paper, palette paper, paper towels and refreshments]
