STUDY THEMES — Mastercopy
These monthly sessions are for the young artist, ages 13 – 18, who demonstrates the ability to handle paint with proficiency, has command of the drawing skill including perspective, and/or has taken Level I and Level II Drawing. The lessons emphasize “the art of the start,” powerful color statements of the major color masses within the still life set up, to the minor color variations. Participants will show greater visual acuity in terms of grasping the light key and handle value relationships in color with confidence. Mastercopy will develop the ability to select placement of the subject in the rectangle, expression, painting skills from grisaille to duotone to full color, and practice the solutions other artists have mastered.
About the Artist Instructor Michela Mansuino —Michela graduated in 2017 from Studio Incamminati, an atelier for the study of humanist realism in Philadelphia. Her awards are numerous, including the Maggie Price and Jack Richeson Scholarship Award for 2014 -15, the Studio Incamminati Scholarship Award, and the D. Colman Witte Scholarship for the 2015-16 & 2016-17 Academic Years. Michela continues to teach at The Arts of Great Falls School and in Philadelphia. In December 2016, Michela was selected by The Arts Council of Fairfax County as one of three talented Fairfax County artists with extensive arts education experience for the FY17 Artist Residencies in Middle Schools program. 3B or 5B graphite pencils, really anything will be fine
18 X 24 inch paper or a sketchbook to draw in two gray toned 16 X 20 inch canvas pad sheets, or similar one 16 X 20 gray toned, stretched canvas.
