About the Competition
In the 6th Annual Paint Great Falls: Plein Air Competition, artists will be painting the beautiful scenery outdoors in Northern Virginia extended days starting Saturday, September 5th through 3pm, Sunday, September 13th.  Painters will be in popular locations such as Great Falls Park, Riverbend Park,  Colvin Run Mill,  Meadowlark Gardens, Reston Town Center as well as private gardens, a historic farm, Great Falls Village Centre and other places. And also, in an artist’s own backyard as an option this year to accommodate everyone’s comfort level.

In addition to the daily painting, there will be a Quick Paint Night on Friday, September 11, from 6-8pm at the Great Falls Village Centre.  Quick Paints are an exciting event as artists are allotted a short amount of time to create a piece of art.  An award will be given to the winner of the Quick Paint.

The Plein Air Awards
Thanks to our generous sponsor Celebrate Great Falls Foundation, cash awards will be given for 1st Place ($500), 2nd Place ($250) and 3rd Place ($100) and Quick Paint ($150).  Honorable mentions (no monetary prizes) will be made.  This year’s judge is  Robert Johnson (see his works by clicking here)
